Philippine Travel: Canyon Woods Tagaytay

Although part of Batangas, Canyon Woods has been associated with Tagaytay. Just barely across the border of Batangas along Diokno Highway, the Canyon Woods Residential Resort was the first project in the area to introduce a "residential resort" concept. The 76.2-hectare development is a multi-product residential subdivision complemented by resort facilities and activities. Residential options include open lots and Canyon Homes - "country-themed" houses designed by premier architects - with excellent views of Taal Volcano, the lake, or landscaped open spaces.

The main amenity of the residential resort is the Canyon Woods Resort Club, a fully mater-planned development in itself which offers four major activity centers - the Clubhouse, casitas and cabins, the Campsite, and Canyon Golf.

The clubhouse, which has an 8,800-square meter main floor area, is the largest in Tagaytay. It offers prime accommodations and first-class dining and convention facilities. For indoor relaxation, members can avail of the health spa, heated swimming pool, library, or the mini-theater. The Fun Center has a video arcade, a children's playroom, and a separate billiards and game rooms.

The casitas, designed by Arch. Francisco Mañosa, provide a wonderful view of the lake and the pavilion. Each cottage features four rooms, each equipped with its own mini-bar and kitchenette. The cabins, on the other hand, are inspired by North American woodland architecture and have four to five rooms each.

For fun in the great outdoors, a fully-landscaped nature trail leads to the Campsite, a 3.3-hectare sports and recreational area that features a man-made lake, picnic grounds, a swimming pool, boat rides, fishing, a children's playground, and crazy golf. Sports facilities include venues for basketball, badminton, bowling, and squash.
