Aside from sinking your feet to the fine white sand of these beaches, you can also savor the mouth-watering cuisine and the blissful scenery that will take your breath away. There are a lot of interesting features for each type of Bohol beach and all of which are highly notable and reviewed by many tourists. Some of the beaches include the Alona Beach which is the most visited and most beautiful beach in the southwest portion of the island of Panglao in Bohol. Diving is the main interest in this area because of the numerous dive shops and rentals within the vicinity. Also, it is here that most of the dolphin spotting is done early in the morning.

Another interesting beach is the Dumaluan Beach of which has the most wonderful of sea shells and said to have world class shoreline. It is more exclusive and so the scenic treasures are untouched and the powdery texture of the white sand is impeccable. If it is pure white sand that you are looking, you might also look into going to Doljo Beach. For family gatherings, small parties, or just a short excursion away from the busy city, the Bikini Beach is for you. This is the most popular beach among locals because it is just 8 kilometers away from the main city of Tagbilaran. This is the perfect weekender getaway for the whole family. Panglao Island

One of the most celebrated places in Bohol is the Island of Panglao. The Chocolate Hills

The Chocolate hills is the most prominent and popular “claim to fame” of Bohol. These are small hills that are 1268 in number all of which look alike or are uniform in shape and are approximately 30 to 50 meters high. These are not man-made as others may assume. The view of the these small look-alike hills are breathtaking and often remind tourists of the traditional child’s drawing of a mountain. They are usually covered with grass and during the dry season turns chocolate brown, hence the name “Chocolate Hills”. There have been many legends about the formation of these hills. Being so unique and cannot be found in other places other than Bohol, they say that it was formed because of the existence of 2 giants that threw stones and sand at each other during their fight. The hills were the result of the mess that their fight made. On the other hand, in order for you to see this magnificent view, you will have to climb up 214 steps to the top of the observation hill in order to see the panoramic view clearly.

Loboc River

Just a 30 minutes ride from Tagbilaran City of Bohol will take you to the famous Loboc River. Your visit to Bohol will never be complete if you will not take the Loboc River Cruise. The Loboc River is located in Loboc which is just 24 kilometers away from the main city of Tagbilaran in Bohol. This is best known to host numerous floating restaurants that give sumptuous meals while cruising on the river. Tables are set and food is served buffet style. Entertainment is provided to have the visitors feel even more welcome. The main dishes served are authentic Filipino cuisine. You can savor the fresh air and the picturesque view as you enjoy a delightful meal.

The Philippine Tarsier

Another very prominent and popular claim to fame of Bohol is the Philippine Tarsiers. These little animals are one of the smallest known primates. They are no larger than a person’s head and are very adorable with big round eyes. It is good to note that they are protected species of the province hence touching them during the tours or during your visits are prohibited because constant touching will stress these creatures out. These little animals live on insects and are mostly active during the night. Aside from the native land of Bohol, the tarsier can also be found in regions of Mindanao and Leyte. Local names of the tarsier include the “mamag”, “mago”, “magau”, or “malmag”.

Heritage Sites

With the rich history of the province, Bohol is packed with historical and heritage sites that historians and travelers alike would love to see. There those who were built during the 70s or 80s. An example of a great historical site is the Clarin Ancestral House located in Laoy. It offes a very nice reminisce of the events that have passed and have contributed to what is the city now. The Clarin Ancestral House is a very popular place that houses many artifacts and schedules for the new development.

Limestone Caves

Bohol is also an island that is made of various caves. The most popular cave is the Hinagdanan Cave. This is a popular tourist spot that is an excellent place for sightseeing of the municipality of Dauis. Baclayon Church

Highly influenced by the Spanish culture, there are many old churches scattered throughout Bohol. The Baclayon Church is one of the most popular of them. This church is the second oldest church in the Philippines. Just a 6 km trip from the main city of Tagbilaran, this old church carries the sophisticated Spanish past. This was said to be completed after 10 years of forced labor starting in the year 1717. The church interiors are very lavish in contrast to the simple square layer of the exterior. It has nave paintings, collection of old religious icons and items, carved glided altars and dichromatic tiled floors.
