Philippine Flag

Every element of the Philippine Flag has some sort of symbolism. This designed was conceptalized by Emilio Aguinaldo while he was in exile in Hong Kong.

The white triangle stands for equality and fraternity. The blue field for peace, truth and justice. The red field for patriotism and valor.

The white triangle has three stars, symbolizing the three main groups of islands of the Philippines - Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. At the center of these stars is a sun with eight rays, said to represent the first eight provinces of the Philippines - Batangas, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Manila, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, and Tarlac.
