Ask any Filipino to name at least five of the best grill restaurants in the Philippines and you will most likely have Gerry’s Grill on the list. This restaurant/bar is a very popular dining and chill-out venue; they serve sumptuous Filipino dishes and of course, ice-cold San Miguel Beer among others.
I can no longer count how many times I’ve succumbed to the temptation of dining at Gerry’s Grill. To say that it is one of my favorite restaurants in Davao City would be accurate. So to celebrate my birthday, I brought my (extended) family to Gerry’s Grill in Abreeza Ayala Mall to feast on their delicious and affordable fare.
Gerry’s Grill’s Mouth-watering Food
Once you open their menu, you’ll realize how hard it is order. Since we were a group of 12, we passed the menu around to make sure everyone gets what he/she wants to eat. This is a distinct Filipino characteristic; it is not common to “order ahead” for someone you’re dining with unless the meal is a surprise. Everyone picks a favorite among the plethora of mouthwatering photos of dishes and we ordered the following:
We also ordered X cups of steamed white rice; I lost count of how many times my cousin and brother ordered extra rice. I swear they’re like bottomless pits and we all just laugh at how takaw they are. Yes, I belong to a family with a healthy appetite both for food and laughter. This is true for most Filipino families; food, no matter how plenty or little is on the table, plays a huge part in strengthening ties.

Aside from the food, what I love about Gerry’s Grill is its festive atmosphere. The Abreeza branch is not large and tables are cramped in most places but diners do not seem to mind. The place is always bustling with people merrily consuming their food while chatting, laughing or even singing along with whoever is on the LED TVs placed all around the restaurant.
Gerry’s Grill is everyone’s go-to restaurant for entertaining foreign/balikbayan guests. You can always spot a tourist happily trying out classic Filipino dishes and smiling after every bite. If you’re looking for a good place to experience Filipino cuisine for the first time or even just to treat yourself to a sumptuous meal, Gerry’s Grill would be an excellent choice. And you won’t have a hard time looking for this restaurant; they have locations all over the Philippines!
